Pheme
Writes meeting notes for Vietnamese teams without joining the call.
The problem #
Meeting notetakers send a bot into your call. It shows up in the participant list, it needs permission, and in a bilingual meeting it produces a transcript that is wrong in both languages. Vietnamese teams end up taking notes by hand in a meeting that was supposed to be recorded.
The approach #
Record from the device instead of the call. Two audio streams, your microphone and the system output, captured locally and sent up in chunks for transcription and summary. No bot, no calendar permission, nothing for the other side to notice. The trade is that it only works on the machine you are sitting at.
Where it is now #
Private beta as of 2026-09. First outside tester ran it in September and filed crash reports; the fixes are queued behind a batch of product work. Billing code exists and has never charged anyone.
What happens if this works #
A meeting in two languages should produce one set of notes that both sides trust. Get that right in Vietnamese and the same approach travels to every market that codeswitches, which is most of them.
Evidence #
- One beta user sent 1,437 transcription requests in a single day, 2026-09-09
- n/a, pre-revenue. Zero customers charged since billing shipped 2026-06-15
